Hello, everyone. Yes, I really am back here after an extremely extended hiatus.
It’s been a weird couple of years for me, with a lot of soul-searching, a lot of big problems to solve, a whole ton of changes…and absolutely no purely creative output whatsoever.
In the “pluses” column, I bought a condo, took some career risks, went on a dream safari to Africa, adopted two incredibly crazy and lovely rescue cats, and made a series of decisions to start getting my life back under control.
In the “not-so-pluses” column – well, everything except the cats, really. I’ve been knocked off course more than a few times, from an expensive soundproofing project that didn’t produce results to a challenging new battle with anxiety.
So it’s been busy. And a little soul-crushing, if I’m being honest. I’ve been dreading coming back to this site and seeing it dormant: an accusatory monument to my inability to find space in my life for storytelling.
It is very, very difficult to feel like you have something worth saying when nothing around you seems to be listening, and that’s where I’ve been trapped for the past few years.
But enough is enough. I do have things to say. I’m good at saying them, and I’m going to find new ways to make myself heard.
Refreshing this website is my first step. Returning to Dark the Wayward Dawn is my second. And who knows what other big changes I’ll be announcing in the new year.
For those of you who are followers of this blog (and are probably surprised to see me pop up again in your feed), thank you for continuing on this bizarre journey with me.
For new folks who have no idea what I’m all about, may I suggest starting by taking a peek at Dark the Night Descending?
I’ll be making more changes to this website as it evolves to suit my new needs, but I’m really hoping to restart the conversation around content, creativity, fantasy, and publishing.
Stay tuned for much, much more in the months to come. I’m excited about making things happen again, and I hope you will be, too.
